BEREA Retreat Centre
Reconstruction project
By God’s grace, the top floor is now finished with all electric fixtures, the heating and cooling systems, as well as the five bathrooms with showers. At the moment, we are completing the third floor. Just recently, all the heating radiators have been installed in all the 12 rooms there. All the electric wiring, water pipes and drainage system in all the rooms on the second and the third floors are now finished too.
The most visible addition to the facility is a new large basement that has been dug out and built to contain hot water cylinders (reservoirs), the complete heating system with furnace for burning wood pellets (the cheapest way to heat buildings here) as well as storage for wood pellets. Above this basement, a dining room is waiting to be built this year.
Although most of the work is done by professional hired workers there is always a lot of work to do for voluntary helpers from various churches who take turns on Saturdays. The young people come regularly during summer vacations to a brigade camp. Besides that there is no regular brigade work going on right now.
