Seminars of CC BEREA

Christian Centre BEREA occasionally organises short seminars with topics that have to do with the purpose of the association (e.g. Bible study, evangelism and mission, building up the church) and complement the teaching in the local churches. We benefit from the ministry of experienced Christians from our own circles or visiting lecturers.

Purpose Driven Church

The one day seminar on Purpose Driven Church dealt with the question how to build a church that is aware of its goal and can prioritise on things that contribute to reaching this goal. The solution is based on two scriptures: the so called Great Commission (Mt 22:36-40) and Great Commandment (Mt 28:19-20). Their combination defines the five-fold purpose of the church:

  1. Loving God with all heart (Worship)
  2. Loving neighbours as yourselves (Social service)
  3. Going and making disciples (Evangelism)
  4. Baptising (Community)
  5. Teaching them to do (Discipleship)

Seminar themes:

  1. How To Build A Purpose Driven Church
  2. How to balance the five purposes
  3. Learning to Fish For Souls Like Jesus
  4. How to Design Seeker-Sensitive Services
  5. How to help people to be proud being part of Gods family
  6. Help People From The Congregation To The Committed
  7. How To Help Every Member Into A Ministry
  8. Authentic leadership

The lecturer was Jan Veldhuizen who is leading a growing church in Enschede (The Netherlands).

Our roots

korene

The Seminar on Our roots in spring 2005 looked at the history and present situation of the Christian assemblies in the context of the world-wide brethren movement. Knowing our past is both instructive and encouraging and helps to make right decisions in the present situation.

The themes of the three meetings in Nitra were:

  1. the history and characteristic traits of the brethren movement;
  2. the history, trends and perspectives of the brethren churches in Slovakia;
  3. the mission of the brethren.

The lecturers were Jan Hudec, Lubomir Vyhnanek, Peter Kozar and Jan Ciz.
